Cervical Screening
Cervical Screening (a smear test) is a test to check the health of the cervix and help prevent cervical cancer. It is offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64.
If you are at all worried about having your smear test, please call your surgery and make an appointment to speak with one of our Practice Nurses who will be more than happy to talk you through the process and put you at ease.

The smear test is a 20 minute appointment. The actual smear test takes 2 minutes, but we allow this additional time for the Practice Nurse to take your medical history and to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
You can bring someone with you to your appointment if this makes you feel more comfortable or the surgery is able to offer a chaperone. If you would like a chaperone, please speak to the Practice Nurse at the start of your appointment and she will be able to arrange this for you.
